Tony, you had said, “For God so loved the world that He gave His Son to be killed.” I used to believe that because that is the most common understanding, that He was sent by God for the purpose of sacrifice. I’m wondering if we put that context on that passage instead of what God meant. I tend to see it as “For God so loved the world that He gave His Son for us to learn how to live, to follow, to obey and to show us how God intended for us (from eternity past) to love one another.”

    I realize both views are speculative at best, so it is just a thought.

    Either way, I appreciate you asking the tough questions of your guests.
